Artist's Description
Created during my Artist in Residence at the Hubbell Trading Post in Northern Arizona. Most evenings were spent without human company and the animals inhabiting the area became my companions. The presence of the ravens was constant. Their flash of blue black as slices of night winging through my daydreams inspired my art. Each evening just after sunset the ravens having foraged all day throughout the landscape began to head back down the wash toward the south, to their nightly roosts. Stopping in pairs in the craggy cottonwoods along the way to linger for what appeared thoughtful, newsy conversations silhouetted against brilliant skies. Witnessing this evening ritual became a favorite part of my day as it reminded me of my own evening chats with my mate at the end of a fruitful day.
